The GMC Canyon model was released in the model year 2004 and falls under the category of compact pickup trucks. The Canyon model is available in both the four door and in two door models and also offers different trim levels.

General Motors introduced its compact pickup truck under the brand name GMC Canyon in 2004. The model is larger when compared to the Sonoma from the same group. The vehicle was offered in three different models namely crew cab, extended and in the regular cab styles. The present model is offered in both the automatic and in the manual transmissions and is also provided with either the four wheel drive or the rear wheel drive.
2004 GMC Canyon
The Canyon launched in 2004 shared the same platform as that of Colorado model. Both the Colorado and the Canyon models were released by the General Motors to replace the vehicles S-10 and the Sonoma Isuzu models. The Canyon model has its assembly plant at the Rayong, Thailand and also in Louisiana.

The vehicle comes with 4.3 liter V6 engine that can produce 190 horse power of energy. The regular cab comes to accommodate up to three passengers, while the extended cab and crew cab accommodates up to five and six passengers respectively. ABS is provided as standard on all the models and the off-road suspension is provided as optional. The features provided in the vehicle include satellite radio, Onstar assistance system and the heated leather seats.
2005 GMC Canyon
The second generation model released in 2005 came with minor changes to its predecessor model. It came with the same trim levels along with the upscale level SLE trim model. A number of GMC Canyon accessories were offered this year too.

The four door crew cab allowed to accommodate up to six passengers and provided either the four wheel drive or the rear wheel drive. The newly added feature to the 2005 model is the sunroof. The other features that were included in the previous model like the satellite radio, Onstar assistance, stereo system and the leather seats are also included in this generation vehicle.
2006 GMC Canyon
The 2006 Canyon came with the addition of sport suspension package and shares the power-train and design cues of the Colorado model.

The pickup truck came with the standard four cylinders that produces 175 horse power of energy and provided five cylinder inline engine that can produce 220 hp as optional.
2007 GMC Canyon
The Canyon in 2007 was released only in extended and regular cab models. All the Canyon models are provided either with four wheel drive or rear wheel drive. Most of the models came with the 2.9 liter four cylinder engine that can produce 185 hp.
The traction control feature is provided as optional while ABS is standard on all the models.
2008 GMC Canyon
The 2008 Canyon model came with more driving comfort and large interior space along with the fuel efficiency. The latest generation GMC Canyon is being offered with either the four wheel or the two wheel drive and is also available in three styles like the crew cab, regular and extended models.
