The 2009 GMC Canyon is offered in different cab styles, powertrains and suspensions and these helped the vehicle to be become practical and versatile.
The 2009 Canyon model is available in either in four wheel drive or in two wheel drive and is also available in three different body styles namely the crew cab, regular cab and the extended cab models. The model is offered in two engines like the 2.9 liter 4-cylinder that can produce 185 hp of power and the other 3.7 liter 5-cylinder inline engine that produces 242 horse power of energy. The new engine available for the crew cab and the extended cab is the 5.3 liter V8engine that produce 300 hp of power. The car is offered in 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission for the models containing four cylinders, while V8 and the five cylinder engines is offered in 4-speed automatic transmission.
Dual stage air bags at the front side is provided as standard on all the models, while the curtain air bags that protect the head are provided as optional. It is equipped with the other safety features like the day time running lights, ignition disable and 4-wheel anti lock brakes.
